The last fight of Sen. Manny Pacquiao was tarnish by controversy by his payment of all the expenses of Gen. Ronald " Bato" Dela Rosa and his family.On this controversy Sen. Manny Pacquiao defended the PNP Chief. In an interview by the reporter he defended "other “corrupt” activities should be investigated.
He particularly cited the management of Yolanda rehabilitation funds.
“Minsan, ano rin natin…may mga bagay na dapat nating tutukan especially ang corruption, lalong lalo na yan. Kailangan maipaliwanag kung saan napunta yung funding ng Yolanda,”
Sen. Pacquiao added that"Ang mga naghihirap nating kababayan na wala pang mga bahay, nangangailangan pa sila ng tulong eh nasaan yung pera? Yun ang kailangan nating imbestigahan …’Yun ang dapat nating unahin. Hindi yung gagawa ka ng butas dahil kalaban mo,"
The Ombudsman study on the possible Dela Rosa's violation of Presidential Decree 46, which makes it punishable for public officials and employees to receive gifts on any occasion, and Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees over alleged travel perks which Pacquiao's own expense.
Pacquiao told there was no bad intention for shouldering of all expenses of Gen. Dela Rosa and his family to go Las Vegas for supporting the fight of Sen. Pacquiao against Jessie Vargas.
